December News Update 2020
The snow has begun to fall in many places around this time of year, leaving the air to feel colder and [Removed]ht to approach much quicker. The holidays are approaching fast and we're all left wondering, what's in store for 2021?
Game Update
Just recently, we've launched Kiros to begin public testing! Unfortunately, this launch contains oIT content and has not been fully customized as we'd like it too. The main focus of this launch is to iron out any coding bugs and have our players give suggestions for big patches before we advance in content creation. Fear not, though, as content is already well under way!
Here's a few sneak peaks;
Don't mind Slain messing around on the job.. sometimes us developers have a little too much fun working on new things.
With that in mind, our team is hard at work developing new maps, meshes and items for our next patch. Along with new content, our team is skimming through both staff and user bug reports to fix any bugs that may have been discovered during the first few weeks of launch. If you stumble across a bug, we encourage you to let us know on the Bug Board!
Board + Site Changes
Alongside some glorious game updates, our team has been hard at work developing new systems to make our moderators jobs a tad bit easier! Not only do we hope these changes make our mods jobs a little easier, we hope it makes our users more comfortable and confident when interacting with our team and community alike.
Our help desk has moved on-site!
One of the biggest changes we're excited about is being able to migrate our ability to accept help desk tickets to our home site. We hope this encourages users to reach out to our staff rather than being skeptical of a third-party help desk system. The on-site system was hand coded specifically for our website and forum, meaning Kiros is the first Proboards forum to host a system of its kind and there may still be some minor bugs to iron out. We hope to improve the overall functionality of the system as time goes on and we get some feedback from our userbase! We hope you find it as useful as we do!
Along with the new help desk system, we've implemented some new auto-tags here on-site. These tags will look something like this;
These tags will be automatically applied whenever a thread is locked or made a sticky across the forum. We hope these tags aid in identifying locked threads here on the forum and make things a little more organized.
Along with the fancy new thread tags on-site, we've included some new updates on how locked topics function here at Kiros. Moderators can no longer respond to certain locked threads, just like normal users. Additionally, anytime a thread is locked, a fancy new message will appear where the "Quick Reply" function originally was.
If you topic has been locked and you'd like for it to be unlocked at any time, we encourage you to submit a help desk ticket so that a moderator can tend to your request!
Moderator Messaging Changes
Last month our team released a statement regarding how private messaging now functions for our moderation staff. We'd like to highlight these changes again as they're extremely important for new users here on-site.
Moderators can no longer receive private messages from users via their profiles.
This change was intended to direct all issues to our help desk to handle matters as a team versus as an individual. Moderators will not carry a link where their messaging button used to be that leads a user directly to the on-site help desk. We ask that users do not message moderators via the private messaging function, as we are unable to keep records of private messages or any reports you may have filed via the messaging system. Please keep all moderator matters to the Help Desk.
More information about this change is detailed in the following thread; Read Me
This change also applies to messages sent via the Help Desk functionality to protect our moderators while handling reports and issues on-site. While you may know who is a moderator and who is not, you will not know which moderator is handling your ticket. Do not be alarmed, though, as administrators are able to see actions taken by moderators at all times, and will be able to hold mods accountable for their actions. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly by a Moderator, please submit a ticket to the Admin Department with a link to the instance and an outline of the situation.
Staff Changes
Over the past few weeks, our team has experienced some changes in both rank and members! We'd like to extend a warm welcome and congrats to ServerusLupis as our newest Moderator in Training! Severus has also opted to join our development team in their endeavors to bring our users exciting new content. Severus will soon be joining the ranks of Game Moderator once he completes his training!
Additionally, we'd like to thank Daska for all their hard work both here and on Aroessa, where they served as a moderator for many many months. Daska was not only a great friend, but a wonderful addition to our team. We wish them luck where ever their path may lead. ♥
In addition to these staff changes, we'd like to remind everyone that Moderator Applications are OPEN! If you feel like you'd be a wonderful addition to our team, follow the information provided in this thread!
We'd like to thank everyone that has joined us on our journey thus far, we appreciate every single one of you. Stay strong out there! ♥
